Brookfield Place Toronto proves its Eco-Consciousness

Are you Eco-Conscious?” That’s the question Brookfield Place is posing to its audience of corporate and commercial real estate tenants, and the over 100,000 people that pass through Toronto’s iconic office tower and retail concourse on a daily basis. The multi-channel campaign was designed to bring awareness and increase social activity during Earth Month, with an emphasis on the good being done for Social Profitability.


As a corporate leader, Brookfield Place takes green initiatives seriously all year long, doing their part to make a difference. Having earned Gold certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®), they offer tenants responsible environmental solutions, energy-saving strategies and Eco Initiatives including a Smart Commute Alternative Transportation Program, EcoZone Parking and Enhanced Green Cleaning, among others.

Last year alone, Brookfield Place recycled over 231 metric tonnes of bottles, cans and plastics, diverted over 1,082 metric tonnes of organics from landfill, recycled over 10,000 light bulbs, and over 3,555 metric tonnes of paper products and cardboard. That’s the equivalent of saving over 88,000 trees!

These initiatives could not have taken place without the support of their tenant population.

Brookfield Place has long been committed to engaging their retail and corporate community through onsite events and promotions. Throughout Earth Month, Brookfield Place is further connecting with their audience through social media channels and via the Brookfield Place app.

This April, they’re asking fans and followers to highlight the ‘good’ they are doing in their everyday lives to make their world a more environmentally-friendly place, by sharing pictures and/or videos through social media, tagging @brookfieldPLTO, using the unique hashtag #stateofimpact. Those who participate are entered into an Eco-Conscious Contest for a chance to win $100 Brookfield Place gift cards.

Recognizing their contributions to environmental efforts, Brookfield Place retailers are also being spotlighted and acknowledged for their eco-conscious initiatives through daily social media posts, linked to the Eco-Conscious Contest.

Also in April, Brookfield Place proves that it pays to Lug-A-Mug! In celebration of Earth Day, tenants and visitors are asked to bring their own reusable mugs and show they’ve downloaded the Brookfield Place app, to receive a complimentary hot beverage from a participating Brookfield Place retailer. Additionally, they can enter the Lug-A-Mug Contest for a chance to win a prize valued at $1,000, including a new bike and a donation in their name to Evergreen Brick Works.

The month-long marketing and social media program was developed in collaboration with the Brookfield Place management team, with creative and campaign execution by The Collective agency in Toronto.

Producing a multi-media campaign that generates eco-awareness and audience engagement can be – so worth it!
